This site is a closed archive of 54 science dispatches, filed between 4 April and 20 May 2022. Nothing has been added since, and nothing is planned. It is kept online because the pieces are still readable and still get found.
What is in it
Short reports across astronomy and spaceflight, palaeontology, ecology and climate, archaeology and medicine. Cassini’s final orbits and Dawn’s images of Ceres sit next to a rift crossing an Antarctic ice shelf, a feathered dinosaur’s tail preserved in amber, a house in Maszkowice built nearly four thousand years ago, and a wolf that walked off with a forester’s camera in the Drawsko Forest.
Several of the headlines still carry the name of the Polish popular-science outlet they were summarised from. That is where much of this material comes from: these are English summaries of science reporting, most of it Polish, as it was published at the time.
What it is not
It is not current. Every dispatch here is from the spring of 2022 and is presented with the date it was filed, because the date is the most important thing about it. Science moves — a result fails to replicate, a species count is revised, a probe sends back better data — and none of that is reflected on this site.
It is not original research, and it is not peer review. These are summaries of what other people published.
Where a dispatch touches health, it is not medical advice. There is no clinician behind this archive and none is claimed. If something here concerns you, speak to a doctor or a pharmacist.
Who keeps it
The archive is maintained as an archive: the dispatches are not edited, rewritten or quietly updated. If a piece has been overtaken by later work, the honest fix is a note saying so, not a silent edit — so that is what we do.
There is no newsroom here and no named author to attribute the pieces to. Rather than invent one, the site says plainly what it is: a desk that filed for seven weeks in 2022 and then stopped.
Corrections
If a result on this site has since been overturned, or a detail is simply wrong, please say so through the contact form. Corrections are added as a note on the dispatch itself.
